This unique hotel is in a magnificent unspoiled setting on the Rilán Peninsula, a 30-minute drive from downtown Castro, the island’s capital. Perched on a hillside, the main building houses a glass-enclosed lounge with indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a lovely seafood-oriented restaurant and a full-service spa with heated swimming pools. The 24 well-designed accommodations, including five family rooms and two suites, feature wood paneling, picture windows with sea views, handcrafted furniture, locally commissioned artwork and rich woven fabrics. Activities include day trips aboard Tierra Chiloé’s elegant wooden yacht constructed by a local boat builder, horseback-riding excursions, guided hikes and fishing trips. Fascinating cultural tours to nearby historic villages and authentic handicraft markets can also be arranged. The hotel is closed from early May to September.
