This romantic mountain resort stands in the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana. The 25 log cabins overlook a rushing creek and fir forest, and each comes with a woodburning fireplace and a massive king bed. Luxury Cabins offer the most secluded locations, plus separate living rooms, spa decks and steam showers. A cedar lodge contains an activities center with a fireplace, and a restaurant and rooftop lounge are on the upper levels. Amenities include a heated outdoor swimming pool (June through September), a tennis court, a dry sauna and a fitness center. In-cabin massages are available by appointment. Activities encompass guided fly-fishing excursions, rafting, horseback riding, daylong cattle drives, cooking classes and picnic hikes. Cross-country skiing, dog sledding and snowmobiling are offered in the winter. No children under the age of 16 are permitted.
The property offers “Skijoring” during the winter, an activity in which a person on skis is pulled by a horseback rider. The term is derived from the Norwegian word meaning “ski driving,” and the sport originated as a means of transportation for Siberian and Nordic travelers.
