Scotland offers some of the most gorgeous scenery in the world, punctuated by historic island castles and baronial country house hotels. In only a short drive, you can go from a pastoral setting of small villages and neatly tilled fields to the vast and empty wilds of the Highlands, where craggy, heather-clad mountains are scoured by rushing peat-stained streams.
Intimate and relaxing Airds Hotel gazes out over Loch Linnhe, 3.5 hours northwest of Edinburgh. Offering 11 snug guest rooms and suites (no A/C) with modern baths featuring marble countertops, its public areas include two intimate lounges with deep sofas and period antiques, a conservatory for lunch and afternoon tea and a whisky bar with American walnut paneling. The fine restaurant serves a seafood-focused menu with a notable wine list. Airds Hotel offers many enticing walks, cycling, sailing, horseback riding, fishing and golfing, plus picnic lunches for visiting the serene Isle of Lismore.

Arrive in the afternoon and have a cream tea for two. Enjoy a relaxing and intimate dinner in the evening served in Airds’ loch view restaurant. The following morning, you can enjoy a full Scottish breakfast, again served in the restaurant admiring the views across the loch to the mountains beyond.
The following day includes a visit to Castle Stalker; this iconic castle is 5 minutes from the hotel, located on an island barely larger than the castle itself. The tour, hosted by the owner of the castle, includes a short boat ride. Your host will regale you with many interesting stories of the castle's past, which goes back some 800 years.
Owing to the dependency on tides, it will be necessary to finalize the time of your visit nearer the date. After or before the tour of Castle Stalker (depending upon tide times), take a walk around the area to enjoy its stunning scenery and historic interest.
On the second evening, enjoy a gastronomic journey and partake of The Airds’ very special seven-course tasting menu with matching wines.
