17 Days Through Australia

A Journey of Contrasts

Discover the extraordinary contrasts of Australia on a single, comprehensive itinerary. You'll begin your journey in bustling Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, which offers a vibrant arts and cultural scene, an abundance of galleries and museums and the Docklands, a former shipyard that has been turned into an entertainment area. After a tour through the city, you'll head to the country to get a firsthand look at life on a sheep farm.

From rural to truly remote, you'll next encounter the rugged landscapes and diverse wildlife of Kangaroo Island, just off the coast of South Australia. And in the center of the continent, almost six hours' drive to the nearest city, you'll witness the impressive Uluru (Ayers Rock), a huge sandstone monolith that was sacred to the Aborigines.

Continue on your tour of remote Australia by taking a private plane to the 2,500-acre Lizard Island, which offers 24 pristine white-sand beaches, nature walks, kayaking and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. Complete your 17-day trip with a sightseeing tour of Sydney, a four-hour lunch cruise in the meandering waterways of Sydney Harbour and, finally, a tour of the Blue Mountains.
