Pam S., Director Travel Partners, Villas and Cruises visited Cavallo Point Lodge, a handsome resort on the site of Fort Baker in Sausalito this summer. She gave us a few tips from her stay, below:

What to Pack: Bring a jacket, you never know when you will need it when next to the bay.

Surprising Fact or Tidbit: The historic rooms were surprisingly spacious; lower level rooms had porch access, some with private porches.

Overall Impressions: Cavallo Point is tucked away below the Golden Gate Bridge, located on the former Ft. Baker military base. The atmosphere is relaxed, the views of the bridge and the spa are both pleasantly surprising.

Insider's Tip: The hotel partners with Lexus so hotel guests have access to one day use of a Lexus if they do not want to rent a car.

Day Trip Suggestions: San Francisco, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, Pt. Reyes Lighthouse.

Neighborhood to Explore: Sausalito is only a two-mile drive away.

Where to eat or drink: Farley's Bar is a fun place for a casual meal.
