For the December 2108 issue of the Hideaway Report, we visited GoldenEye, on the north coast of Jamaica, a two-hour drive from Montego Bay. If GoldenEye sounds familiar it is because it's the former home of Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond.
GoldenEye is a comfortable refuge located close to the town of Oracabessa. Though once known chiefly as a celebrity hangout, this 49-room property, now owned by legendary record producer Chris Blackwell, is ideal for couples and families alike. The estate features beachfront dwellings, a beautiful lagoon, flaming-red poincianas and, in the evening, colorful strings of lights and tiki torches.
From the editor: “GoldenEye is a Caribbean refuge of some flair, with an unusually colorful backstory. Given sufficient time, it would be a delightful place to finish a Bond novel or two.”
