Newly Recommended Hotels in the Pacific Northwest

The Inn at Langley

Langley, Washington

Located at the edge of downtown Langley, a delightful Whidbey Island town of art galleries and seafood restaurants, The Inn at Langley has 28 rooms that offer splendid views of the Saratoga Passage. Reserve a Cottage or the Saratoga Suite if possible, but standard guest rooms are also attractive, with woodburning fireplaces, water-view hot tubs and furnished balconies. There is no room service, and the front desk is not always staffed (an after-hours emergency number is available), but this is a comfortable base from which to explore Langley and the scenic parks of southern Whidbey.

Friday Harbor House

Friday Harbor, Washington

Friday Harbor House is a recently renovated 23-room hotel perched on a hill overlooking picturesque Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, in the sensationally scenic San Juan Islands archipelago. Stylish accommodations have a color palette of cream, yellow and charcoal and come with gas fireplaces, jetted tubs and Juliet balconies. Request a Harbor View room or the Partial View Suite, ideally on a high floor to avoid close proximity to the restaurant patio (Non-View rooms not recommended). Friday Harbor itself is touristy, but the hotel is well-positioned for memorable kayaking, whale-watching and hiking excursions.

Hotel Ballard

Seattle, Washington

Best for a return visit to Seattle, Hotel Ballard stands in the heart of the stylish and rapidly gentrifying Ballard neighborhood, about five miles northwest of downtown, with easy access to trendy restaurants and numerous craft brewery tasting rooms. Our Luxury Suite had gunmetal-gray walls and gray furnishing with gold accents, but floor-to-ceiling windows ensured that it remained bright. Casual but friendly service is provided by a young, stylish staff.
