Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou began accepting guests Friday at the new 78-room (five suites) resort at West Lake, one of China’s most picturesque settings. The 2,200-year-old city of Hangzhou is renowned for its natural beauty and its ancient relics, and the scenic West Lake area encompasses a number of historic pagodas and cultural sites. The resort, on nine private acres of landscaped bamboo forest, willow trees and lotus ponds, is the newest property in the company’s expanding Chinese portfolio. Amenities include a spa and a high-style restaurant, Jin Sha, that offers fresh interpretations of classic local, Shanghainese and Cantonese dishes.
Three additional Four Seasons properties are scheduled to open by late winter, including two in Colorado: the 239-room Four Seasons Hotel Denver, opening Oct. 19, and the 121-room Four Seasons Resort Vail, opening in mid-December. The Four Seasons Denver is in the heart of downtown, near sports and theater venues, the arts scene and the business district. The complex includes 21 suites, a spa, a rooftop pool and an upscale steakhouse, the EDGE Restaurant. The Vail resort is a contemporary alpine lodge featuring peaked roofs and wooden beams outside and hickory and limestone inside with large windows, balconies, terraces and a year-round outdoor pool. Located in the middle of Vail Village, the resort is a short stroll from the Vista Bahn lift.
Four Seasons is also confirming reservations for its 192-room Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane for arrivals after Feb. 1. With a design inspired by the 1930s golden age of travel, the hotel is capped by a glass-walled, rooftop spa with sweeping views of Hyde Park and Westminster. The Amaranto Restaurant will serve light Italian cuisine. The new hotel is built on the site of the original Four Seasons Inn on the Park, which opened in 1970 and was a favorite of travelers and Londoners for nearly 40 years. In addition, the 196-room Four Seasons Resort Nevis will re-open on Dec. 15 after being closed due to the impact of Hurricane Omar, which swept through the islands of St. Kitts & Nevis in October 2008.
