This beautiful restaurant in a historic mansion features the contemporary Southern cooking of Atlanta-born, Savannah-raised chef Christopher Hathcock. The menu changes with the seasons, and Hathcock takes real pride in sourcing his produce from local farms. The restaurant’s motto — “If it doesn’t come from the South, it’s not coming through the door” — inspires playful, creative dishes; in-house pickling; and homemade charcuterie boards.
Dishes change often, but starters may include a grouper tartare with cauliflower, brown butter and caviar bottarga, or warm octopus with fingerling potatoes, lemon balm, black garlic and harissa. Opt for the smoked duck breast with persimmon and apple for your main, or the crispy catfish with shishito peppers, Chinese eggplant, cabbage and house-made furikake. The hearth-baked cornbread paired with bacon is an excellent side dish, while the green-tea panna cotta is a refreshing and unusual conclusion to a fine meal.
