Tranquil and isolated resort in a spectacularly beautiful setting on the coast of Nui Chua National Park, overlooking the serene waters of Vinh Hy Bay. Contemporary main pavilion, set on a hilltop, houses the resort’s restaurant, library and bar, and an open-air terrace provides grand sea views. The 36 open-plan pavilions, villas and four- and five- bedroom residences are sited for complete privacy among the thick vegetation. Each Ocean Pool Villa features cathedral ceilings, granite and teak floors, and picture windows on all sides. An exterior door from the large bath leads to a timber deck with a private pool flanked by lounge chairs. Excellent Western and Vietnamese food. A gym, two spa houses, two tennis courts, a cliffside infinity pool and a private beach club; guided treks and boating excursions can be arranged.

The exceptionally attractive and comfortable pavilion accommodations; the magnificent site; the outstanding spa.
Senior staff can be a bit chilly.
The best weather is from January to August. Because of its isolation, the hotel is not a good base from which to tour. For local excursions, the Cham temples near Phan Rang are worth visiting, but go to Bau Truc pottery village only if you’re curious to see the potters at work, as the products themselves are very basic.
Lowest Rate: Lake Pavilion, $1,220; Editor’s Choice: Ocean Pool Villa, $1,860.
