This captivating stone hamlet straddling a hilltop was restored and transformed into a sophisticated resort with 34 suites and multibedroom farmhouse villas. The 5,000-acre, 800-year-old estate encompasses vineyards, forested hills and a Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course. Most of the villas offer spacious bedrooms with polished stone floors, beamed ceilings, dark furnishings and private terraces with pools. Dining options include the formal Ristorante Campo del Drago for classic Tuscan fare and the more casual Osteria La Canonica, where pizzas and pastas dominate the menu. The hotel also has a spa, a gym and a gorgeous infinity pool. Wine tastings, cooking classes and tennis lessons can be arranged.
