This gracious 181-room family-friendly eco-resort overlooks two beaches from the hilly Peninsula Papagayo. The property has reopened after a $35 million renovation completed at the end of 2017. The lobby encompasses an open-air lounge and an updated retail area. Lodgings feature balconies or terraces, rattan and bamboo furnishings, and local artwork. We prefer the spacious Canopy Suites, which offer panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the jungle canopy, which is a steep climb from the resort. Shuttle service to the area is available, however. Dining options include Bahia for Latin American cuisine and Pesce for seafood-oriented Italian fare. Amenities include a full-service spa, a large gym, three swimming pools, a seaside Arnold Palmer championship golf course and five tennis courts. Deep-sea fishing, scuba diving and catamaran sailing are also available.
