Dramatically sited above the Golfo Dulce, this 1,000-acre wilderness refuge is in an isolated corner of the Osa Peninsula at the southern tip of Costa Rica. The 17 thatched bungalows are situated on a steep hillside covered with tropical vegetation and are well-outfitted with netted windows and private decks, though they lack air-conditioning. The rooms have been intentionally designed to provide travelers with a secluded retreat in which to relax and disconnect, and therefore do not have in-room phones, TVs or Wi-Fi. The spectacular open-air restaurant has a platform for viewing monkeys, parrots, toucans and macaws. Other amenities include a private hut for massage treatments and a saltwater pool. Jungle and shoreline safaris and horseback riding excursions can be arranged. Overseen by a friendly and knowledgeable staff, this ecological sanctuary captures the essence of wild Costa Rica. The resort does not permit children under the age of 6.
