Distinctive hotel comprised of seven restored 19th-century shophouses on a small lane in a convenient location near the center of George Town. Large tile-floored central atrium; beautifully furnished library and lounge-bar feature slatted wooden screens, cast-iron lacework and a spectacular collection of local antiques. The ground-floor Kebaya Restaurant serves classic Indo- and Straits Chinese dishes. The 18 two-story suites include open-plan baths with rainfall showers, four-poster carved beds, antique furniture and living areas. The most desirable are the spacious duplex Argus Apartments, which overlook a quiet backstreet. Lap swimming pool; guided tours, cooking classes and in-room massage treatments can be arranged.
