Minimalist, rather futuristic 244-room hotel in the new landmark Elbphilharmonie building, with panoramic views of the harbor and city center, well-located in the atmospheric canal-laced Speicherstadt neighborhood. Friendly staff provide surprisingly thoughtful and attentive service. Book a suite (rooms not recommended), all of which afford access to the club lounge. Panorama Suites emphasize the architecture of the building, with a curtain of windows reaching from the floor to the double-height ceiling. Simple white/cream/beige color schemes emphasize the splendid views. Overlooking the harbor, The Bridge Bar is a fine place for afternoon coffee and cake or a creative cocktail; few tables at The Saffron Restaurant have views, however. Impressive 14,000-square-foot spa with small lap pool, multiple saunas and steam rooms, tranquil relaxation lounges and balconies above the Elbe River.
