This unique 12-room mansion is famed for its resident herd of rare Rothschild’s giraffe. The property inhabits a 12-acre private estate 15 miles from Nairobi. Public areas with classic 1930s-style décor include an atmospheric wood-paneled dining room and a breakfast sunroom. Guest accommodations feature antiques and large windows. Additionally, many have four-poster beds, fireplaces and terraces that provide up-close views of the giraffes. The recently renovated Karen Blixen Suite now has two bedrooms, an adjoining lounge area with a fireplace, and a large balcony. This suite and the Finch Hatton Suite are especially suitable for families. Activities include excursions to the adjacent Giraffe Centre, an elephant orphanage and the Karen Blixen Museum (private sightseeing vehicles with drivers can be arranged). A resident massage therapist is also located at the manor. This hideaway is closed in May.
