This hillside vintage hotel built in 1910 offers views of Lake Como from 90 comfortable rooms, including a fifth-floor all-suite “hotel within a hotel.” Much of the property features period décor, except for recommended Rooftop Suites, which sport refined contemporary design: dark stained pine floors, putty-colored walls and a mix of modern and traditional furnishings. Two Rooftop Front Suites each feature a sitting room separated from the bedroom by pocket doors. Also available are private terraces with Jacuzzis that offer spectacular lake vistas. Multiple restaurants and bars are available for dining and drinking, including the excellent La Terrazza Gualtiero Marchesi. Other amenities include a first-rate spa that now employs products from Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, the famous pharmacy founded in Florence in the Middle Ages, a 50-foot infinity pool, a private beach and a water limousine that offers a guide for guests to tour beautiful Lake Como.

Almost every ferry on Lake Como stops on one of the landings adjacent to the hotel, which means it’s easy to sightsee without a car.
