Decorated in a traditional Caribbean/colonial style, this 64-room resort divides its accommodations among Seagrape Beach Suites fronting the Grand Anse and, behind them, suites that compensate for their lack of views with private pools. (The viewless and poolless Oleander suites should be ignored.) Our Seagrape Beach Suite came with a skylit bath, dark wood furnishings enlivened with splashes of turquoise and sea-foam green, and a delightful beachfront patio with a dinette, loungers and a hammock. Its minibar, like all meals and house beverages at the resort, is included in the rate, but the resort is not a party scene and the cuisine is surprisingly good. Five-course dinner menus in the indoor-outdoor restaurant change nightly, and wines by the glass are inexpensive but perfectly acceptable. The free-form main pool lacks a view, but numerous loungers reserved for guests line the beach, a stretch that’s also popular with locals. There is also a small but highly professional spa and a beach club with complimentary nonmotorized watersports. Service is unfailingly attentive, warm and anticipatory.

The Alexa device in our room; the unfailingly friendly and highly attentive staff; the surprisingly good and varied food selection; my excellent massage.
The free-form swimming pool lacked a view; at busier times, our room felt a little overexposed to people on the beach.
Saturday is a particularly busy day on the Grand Anse; transfers to and from the airport are not included in the rate, in contrast to Silversands.
Lowest Rate: Oleander Gardenview Suite, $1,150; Editor's Choice: Seagrape Beach Suite, $1,390 (all meals and house beverages included).
