This impressively refurbished 90-room former ministry is centrally located on the Praça do Comércio, the grand plaza between the Baixa neighborhood and the Tagus estuary. When booking this hotel, we recommend reserving only a Mezzanine or a Suite. Our Deluxe Room, with appealing contemporary décor and a fine plaza view, featured an open-plan design, with little separation between the marble bath and the rest of the room. Amenities include a memorable Age of Exploration-themed lobby-lounge, a small rooftop spa, a Turkish bath and a pool just big enough for laps. In addition, there’s an atmospheric bar with a vaulted brick ceiling and a bright covered courtyard that’s recommended for breakfasts. The excellent RIB Beef & Wine restaurant is worth a visit even if you are staying in another hotel. Among the many available features of the hotel, perhaps most charming is the friendly and professional service, as well as a particularly helpful concierge desk.
